Thank you to Mike for securing some great red dirt and placing it in the shop before the rains came down.

Good progress was made on the machine shop track rebuild today. In the weeks prior, Mike was able to secure 14 yards of red dirt with a good clay content and placed it in the machine shop track area. It hardened up some and it will make a fantastic material base for the machine shop track. Gerald showed Mike and I the homemade tractor blade on hand at the museum and we used it on the tractor to level out the red dirt. After lunch, we began placing cross ties down. We placed them on 24 inch tie centers and used the level as we went.

Mike also secured two sections of 4 inch pipe to use for drainage in between ties. We used PVC cement to secure the union between the two (after cutting the excess off). The machine shop track rebuild is coming along well!

Next volunteer weekend is July 3-4. We'll continue the track rebuild then.
