Objectives:

1) Get 106 Rolling

Wednesday we stood the statue and anchored it to it's base. We mounted the small legend plate to the base also. Tuesday we cut all the low hanging branches that were in front of 106 and put the last few crossties in place. Friday we laid the remaining rail down, gauged it, and spiked it. David and John Came in Saturday to help. We did a final cleaning under the locomotive and around the rails.

We backed off the adjuster screws on the brakes and freed them up. We attached two come-alongs from the pilot beam to the pine tree. After a final oiling we attempted to move the engine and tender. It moved easier than I thought it would albeit very slowly.

We pulled it far enough to get the main rod to pull loose from it's bearing cap on the firemans side of the engine since we couldn't get it off in the position that it was in. All went well and it is still all under the shed.

I think from here we will use a dozer or a wrecker to pull it all the way out. I plan to spend the next couple of weeks preparing the locomotive for it's stay out from under cover. I want to make some covers for the crankpins, that I can pack with grease, to keep the rust away. Plan to cover the stack and domes also, as well as any openings on the cab.
