ML #202

September 26, 1954 - This may have been the last log train from the Meridian East woods into Long Leaf (thus the last day of operations) of the tram road. Other pictures that W.H.B. Jones took that day show #44 (the diesel) switching the log train and then the 202 leaving Meridian for Long Leaf. Since at that time the 44 was only used between Meridian and Long Leaf and the 202 only in the woods east of Meridian, the fact that it is leaving for Long Leaf with what appears to be some assorted logging equipment behind it and the date may mean that it is the "clean up " train. Certainly, it is the very last series of Crowell or RR&G steam locomotives under steam.
